SYSPRO was featured on CNBC Africa last week when Chris Bishop interviewed me on the Entrepreneurial Edge Show. Besides the obligatory pre-interview application of make-up, I thought things went pretty well. I feel in a very fortunate position to love what I do and work with a team dedicated to delighting our clients and improving our products and services every day.
It’s amazing to think that my brother and I started the company in 1978 with just a few dollars in our collective back pocket. The journey has been wonderful and one that still energizes me. After all, how many people are fortunate enough to say that they wake up every morning raring to go with the same excitement they felt on the first day of their start-up?
This spirit of entrepreneurship is something that we at SYSPRO work hard to promote in our employees all over the world. Our partners and customers are integral to this. They are seen as an extension of the SYSPRO business and by empowering the collective team, we make our community that much stronger.
The interview also gave me a great opportunity to chat about where we started, the various challenges we faced along route, and what the market was like in the 70s and 80s. Given that computers were the size of a not so small office at that time, we had a good laugh in between the serious stuff. I even talked a bit about the recent Facebook listing and gave some insight on why I am cautious about taking that route.
So grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage, sit back, and enjoy the show.
